In March the contract was signed with the company Jurkovič SSGD d.o.o. who will establish grazing system for long-term and sustainable wetland management at Ormož Basins Nature Reserve (Action C.4). In April preparatory works will begin (purchase of pillars for livestock fence, mowing of vegetation…) and in May we begin with the establishing of the grazing areas.

In March, Company Varnost Maribor d.d. installed cameras for monitoring of Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) and Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus) colony on New Island of Lake Ptuj. This system will enable us to collect different breeding parameters for both species and will also enable visitors of project LIVEDRAVA website to watch the activity on colony through live streaming webcam. At the moment you can watch live streaming from the colony at Ranca at Lake Ptuj.

In March, Company Varnost Maribor d.d. installed cameras for monitoring of Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) and Black-headed Gull (Larus ridibundus) colony on New Island of Lake Ptuj. More

Last year was very successful for the breeding Sand Martins on river Drava as we prepared steep river banks on five locations along the river. At those five sites more than 400 pair bred.

This year again as a part of action C.9 Preparation of the river banks for breeding of the Kingfisher and Sand Martin we started with the preparation of steep river banks. On Sunday, 6th of April 2014 we cleared and prepared the banks at two sites along the river at Zlatoličje and at Zumrova jama and on Thursday, 10th of April we cleared the bank at Mala vas. This year we already prepared around 150m of steep banks along the river Drava with the help of 15 volunteers.

Action was carried out as a part of the project LIVEDRAVA: Riparian ecosystem restoration of the lower Drava River in Slovenia (LIFE11 NAT/SI/882).

• Little Gull (Hydrocoloeus minutus) – 1 ind.
• Black Tern (Chlidonias niger) – 1 ind.

Lake Ptuj:

• Red-throated Loon (Gava stellata) – 3 ind.
• Black-necked Grebe (Podiceps nigricollis) – 6 ind.
• Night Heron (Nycticorax nycticorax) – 2 ind.
• Goosander (Mergus merganser) – 1 ind.
• Greenshank (Tringa nebularia) – 1 ind.
• Mediteranean Gull (Larus melanocephalus) – 1 ind.
• Common Tern (Sterna hirundo) – 23 ind.
