As a part of project LIVEDRAVA we strive to establish Nature park between the town of Ormož and the village Središče ob Dravi, which would become an international recognized nature park. DOPPS, together with municipality Središče ob Dravi and municipality Ormož forseen to revive the plans to establish the nature park as a part of project »Riparian Ecosystem Restoration of the Lower Drava River in Slovenia« with acronym LIVEDRAVA.
DOPPS, municipality Središče ob Dravi and municipality Ormož, see the establishment od nature park as a great development opportunity for the whole region. As good practice examples from other nature parks in Slovenia show, there is opportunity for tourism product, that could be an added value to what those municipalities can offer in the field of science and would encourage sustainable land use. Moreover, it would become international recognized research center with the opportunity for integration of local services and products.
In the meeting on 29th of January 2014 held in Središče ob Dravi, all participant agreed with the initiative to establish Nature park between municipality Ormož and municipality Središče od Dravi. Participant of meeting were representatives from municipality Središče ob Dravi, DOPPS, Hunters Association Središče ob Dravi and Hunters Association Ormož, Fishing Association Ormož, The Institute of the Republic of Slovenia for Nature Conservation, Regional Park Kozjansko, Agrarian Community, Slovenia Forest Service, Village Committee, Turism Association Središče ob Dravi, Jerusalem Ormož and owners of larger farms in the area.
